“Disassembling a myth—like destroying any refuge—is painful for everybody.”
—Toni Morrison

She’s Still Home
Large, the hallway calls to the stairwell,
Harrow, taught are the open words,
Endless, birthless, they’ve been uttered
elsewhere, elsetime,
she’s passing—
each creaking floorboard
knows to mimic
exactly her kind sound.
